The Plot of "Changeling"

Los Angeles in 1928. One Saturday morning, Christine Collins leaves the house and goes to work.
On her return here son Walter has disappeared.

Five months later, a nine-year-old boy is found who claims to be Christines son. But while the police is celebrating ther success, Christine is sure that this boy is not her son.

Neither the non-matching dental findings nor the fact that the new Walter is not circumcised and that he is smaller will be accepted, the police are treating  the case as closed. Christine´s vehement request to continue the search for Walter, brings she in big trouble. Finally she was stamped by the police as hysterical and dangerous, so she admitted to a psychiatric clinic.

Only the Pastor (Briegleb) stand to the side of her. He managed to make the case publicly and to get Christine out of the psychiatric clinic. Meanwhile, a gruesome mass murder is revealed in 20 boys in Wineville, soon the culprit was found and arrested. The chef and a senior staff member of the Los Angeles Police Department was suspended and the murderer sentenced to death.

Five years later a boy was found who was among the prisoners of the murderer. He said that he escaped with the help of Walter Collins, but do not know if  Walter also managed to escape and if he is still alive. Christine is still hoping for the return of her son.
